Liminal Nation...

visible and intelligent discourse
about the theory and
practice of magic.

LIMINAL NATION is a discussion forum created to promote a visible and intelligent discourse around the theory and practice of magic, spirituality and experiential religion.

The LN Forum maybe reached by clicking the Community Tab above or by clicking here: Go to the Forum.

LN Membership requires filling out an online application form which can be found here: Apply For LN Membership. The LN Trustees review every application so please fill out the form to the best of your ability.

You can view an example of a real approved application form here: Sample Application Submittal.

Why an applications process?

The purpose of LN is to provide a space for intelligent discussion of magic and spirituality with a higher signal to noise ratio than is found elsewhere on the internet. It uses the format of an internet discussion forum, but it is actually closer in spirit to an online magazine or collective blog. The board expects a good standard of writing and debate from its contributors, and in order to facilitate this, we have a robust applications process in place that helps to ensure good quality content and a degree of commitment and collective investment among all members.

Why was my application ignored?

* Was it too brief?

It is important to us to get an idea of who you are beyond your initial interest in joining LN. Providing us with some basic details of your interests, practice or tradition helps to eliminate potential trolls and tourists. Even if you are just starting out in your practice or if your interest is exclusively academic, any information that you supply concerning your interests and what you hope to get from LN will aid our decision process. While you don't need to give us your life story please do give us a sense of who you are. Three or four paragraphs is an ideal length.

* Was it not taken seriously?

While we enjoy friendly and amusing applications, we have exactly zero time for insulting or flippant ones. The applications process is in place in order to provide a gateway function for LN's members, ensuring to the best of our ability that all members are invested in contributing interesting content of an acceptable standard. The content of your application is all we have to go on when making that call, so if you dismiss the process and send us a flippant or jokey application instead, it will likely be ignored.
