Merry!
  • iamusiamus December 2011
To all of you. All denominations. All political affiliations. All personalities.

No matter who you are. No matter how you choose/happen to represent yourself normally...

None of that matters a shite. You're all human and all part of the tribe. I want each and every one of you to be seated in your happiness. Taking this window to say it. Be everything you want to be.

Good goddamn I love this time of year!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

My present to anyone who wants it - a little mixtape to end the year with.  Not Christmas themed as such (apart from a couple of tunes), just some pretty pieces that go well together.  It got given to all my relatives for Christmas this year, so it's a bit easier on the average ear than the stuff I usually post online.

    Love you back, MC!

I'm really shite at keeping up with LN or BtB, but I can honestly say, sober as you like, that my life would be worse off without the interactions I've had, big or little, with you two.

Seth, for your enthusiasm, energy and deep, illuminating technical knowledge jumping out from behind the derpderpbrumbrumbrumness (a perfectly judged mix).

Mordant for your never less than astounding focus and tenacity in pursuit of a better ideal, no matter what you think of your progress with it. I've always been inspired by you and what you've got to say, from barbelith onwards...

And on that note.... XK, you are an excellent friend who gives me more time and attention than I probably deserve. Love you to bits and count you as one of the best things that's happened to my hidey little self in an atomic age. You rule forever!

Right, the lot of you! Anyone else willing to take the baton here? You should, because you're all lovely people with nothing to hide and we're all here for the same self-supporting reason.

THIS IS A THREAD FOR UNRESERVED APPRECIATION OF THE PEOPLE WE SHARE SPACE WITH.

    "You're all human"

    ...I'm at least some % Neanderthal... 5%?

    Merry merry, to ya'll too.
  • entityentity December 2011
Hi everyone! Thanks for celebrating Earth's 23.5ยบ axial tilt with me! I'm really glad to have you on the planet. Hold on and don't fall off.
  • bearybeary December 2011

Merry whatever-you're-doing to everyone! I know I'm usually pretty quiet here, but that doesn't mean I don't wander in for a good read and appreciate the rantings, ramblings and random reasonings of every last one of you.

And don't worry Entity, I'm clinging on for dear life!

Nyman Springsteen and Pearson. And Pink Floyd!

    A merry mix indeed.

And Neanderthals are humans too. So are Homo floresiensises. And I am merry about all of them.

Is it OK if I cling to iamus?

  • entityentity December 2011
Misread that, grant, as "And I am about to merry all of them." Ho ho ho!

    Spleen Day?

Why do I know nothing of this Day of Spleens?

I must become edjumacated upon this subject.
  • EmberLeoEmberLeo December 2011
When I was in highschool my social crowd was multi-faith. Rather than expect anyone to keep track, we all agreed to let everyone have their own, and as a group celebrate Spleen Day instead - because we ALL have SPLEENS (none of us having had it removed, anyway).

So Spleen Day is a Winter Gift Giving Occasion which occurs towards the end of the school session, just before the Holiday Break.

    *nods smartly*

    Happy Spleen Day!
  • bearybeary December 2011
    I like that EmberLeo!
  • iamusiamus December 2011
Did everyone have a spleentacular holiday!?

Grant! Let us cling mutually to one another and dance between the snowflakes singing songs of the redemption of the human spirit. With eggnog!

You all get good presents? I got given a pair of Superman underpants! Feel like I could walk through the gates of hell themselves without an iota of fear, knowing the Great Man is gracing my buttocks with a look of invincible determination.

I also made Christmas leftovers pie tonight. And it was so awesome.

It's time to open the gift I got youze!

Egg nog!  I haven't seen snow in *years*, but egg nog! I need some.

I just ate popcorn for dinner. Forgot to snag leftovers leaving my parents' yesterday, but did eat some of my mother's olives today for lunch. She gives baskets of little treats for Christmas - decent tea, olives, kippers, pickles, vinegars and stuff. A can of something called "chakalaka" I'd never heard of before. The popcorn came from a jar in the basket.

I am ordering grassfed spleen from texas to put in the new freezer chest that was my gift.

I'll roast it with bacon, and sage when it arrives.
  • iamusiamus December 2011
Festive food baskets are a inarguably good present to get. You simply can't go wrong with a bit of luxury grub. I tried a strawberry balsamic vinegar while out shopping and I think I need it. And now I'm slavering again.

I put the ham, turkey and stuffing, with some sweated mushrooms, leeks, rosemary, sage and thyme into a bechamel sauce with a wee bit of wholegrain mustard and a puff-pastry, egg-glazed crust. Then another little bit of mustard forked through some mash potato on the side. Actually the first time that I've tried such a thing and it's quite definitely the best food that I've ever made. Was chuffed to bits at it. :)

Now it's time for a snifter of Isle of Jura Superstition that was received from my dad in our Great Annual Whisky Trade!

Like the ankh - but if it's two spirits combined, how can it be a single malt??
  • EvanEvan December 2011
I believe a single malt can include different batches as long as they come from the same distillery.

AW! That was rad to read, thanks Iamus! I hope to push you off the mound of the cherry trees and shamble after your spry self in search of city magicks and whiskey/whisky for many more years! DUG is the LAW. DUG under BOOTS.

Mostly I wish everyone on LN had a plane ticket to London and there was a magical spare room to shove us all into. After the pub, and the street roving group drift. Yes?

..and mad seasonal squeezes to Grant who is the bestest and to Gypsy who is the sweetest for making LN happen. Gyrus would be the faintest but still, SQUEEZES ARE HIS TO BE HAD.
  • grantgrant December 2011
    I am BESQUEEZED.
  • iamusiamus December 2011
XK said: DUG is the LAW. DUG under BOOTS

    DUG under BRIDGE! :D

And a happy Gregorian Annual Accumulation to everyone tomorrow!
  • XKXK December 2011
I like saying BOOTS more than BRIDGE.

Very festive GAA to you as well, sir!
  • XKXK December 2011
Also, I think as proper magicians we should have a big stonking countdown clock to next years Winter solstice, no? When it goes off we all get to hit the pinata.

Howdy, Stranger!
