LIMINAL NATION recognizes that respectful interaction and quality contributions are basic requirements for all members.
LN's forums are not to be used to diagnose or treat any mental, physical, or spiritual conditions regardless of members' professional or personal credentials. Members using the forum or the Private Messaging system (PM) for these purposes will be banned.
The LN community will offer compassionate emotional support to members experiencing personal crisis. As it is impossible to provide quality health or pastoral care through the medium of the LN forums and PMs, all members are to respond to emergency requests for physical, mental, or spiritual care by directing the member making the request to seek immediate aid from their local offline community. LN members may make personal recommendations for offline providers of qualified care as informed consumers of those services and not as representatives of the Liminal Nation community.
If a member's posting behavior reflects an inability to interact respectfully or contribute productively, LN Moderators and Trustees may advise the member to abstain from participating. If a member is unable to voluntarily abstain from participating, their member status may be changed by a Moderator or Trustee to "Holding Pattern". This membership status allows for interaction with Moderators and Trustees but not the main board or other members. If at any time it is determined that a member's interaction with the community appears to be detrimental to the well-being of that member or of the community, the Trustees may change the member's status to either "Holding Pattern" or "Banned". Inflammatory or disruptive posting by any member may at any time result in these membership status changes.
Members who wish to inform the Moderators or Trustees of personal mental health history for consideration during membership status decisions are advised to do so using the Private Messaging system (PM). This information will be shared among the Moderators and Trustees to assist in determining how best to support the member's interactions with the community. While the information will not be shared with the entirety of the Liminal Nation community, it will be noted for future considerations of membership status. Members experiencing difficulty maintaining productive conversations with the LN community who voluntarily abstain from posting or request membership status changes to assist in enforcing abstinence will be welcomed back warmly as active members. Membership status does not reflect judgments regarding the value or capacity of the member and it is a violation of LN policy to discriminate based on mental health history.
